Basic skills and job skills training, at the same time
GPTC’s Truist Bank Grant Career Pathways program gives Adult Education students the opportunity to continue their work toward earning a high school equivalency credential or improving their English language fluency (ESL) while gaining valuable job skills in Manufacturing, Industrial Maintenance and Welding. Truist Bank has provided a grant for eligible students in DeKalb, Newton and Rockdale counties to complete short-term training programs in as little as five weeks. Funds will pay for books and supplies and help with certification costs..
Classes have flexible schedules. Instruction is delivered online and in person on campus. It is possible to gain entrance into the program, no matter where you start in the high school equivalency or English language programs.
√ Upon successful completion, graduates may earn up to four (4) industry-recognized credentials:
• Basic Forklift Operator
• CPR, First-Aid and AED
√ Must be currently unemployed or underemployed
√ Must have reading and basic math skills (at least 6th grade level)
√ State ID
√ Social Security Card
√ Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
√ Resident of DeKalb, Newton or Rockdale counties
