Step 1 of 2
Application Steps
Students complete two applications before they can register for classes: one to GPTC and one through GA Futures for state funding. Both must be fully completed -- including parent portions -- before moving to registration.
1
Apply to GPTC
Students apply online using their legal name, a personal (non-school) email, and Social Security Number. No dashes in number fields. Select: Dual Enrollment / your selected county / Interdisciplinary Studies / correct semester.
Apply at gptc.my.site.com/apply Step-by-Step Application Guide (PDF) No test scores needed in most cases
Submit an Unofficial Transcript: Email a transcript with a visible GPA to DualEnrollment@GPTC.edu. Students using Infinite Campus can find it under "Documents." Counselors may send this on the student's behalf.
Parent Completes Their GPTC Portion: When the student submits their application, a participation agreement is automatically emailed to the parent or guardian to complete. No separate form needed.
Important: The DE Office does not have access to transcripts submitted through GA Futures, and many GA Futures transcripts do not include the GPA. Transcripts must be emailed directly to DualEnrollment@GPTC.edu.
2
Complete the GA Futures Funding Application
Students log in or create an account at gafutures.org, navigate to "My Dual Enrollment Profile," select GPTC, confirm SSN and date of birth, complete the participation agreement, and submit. A new GA Futures application is required each school year (May–April).
GA Futures Step-by-Step Guide (PDF) Required every school year Required at every DE college in Georgia
Parent Completes GA Futures Portion: After the student submits, parents receive an email to complete their section using the Dual Enrollment Application ID and the student's date of birth.
Step 2 of 2
Registration Steps
Once both applications are complete and accepted, students move through three registration steps before they are officially enrolled in their courses.
1
Student Completes Mandatory Orientation
All new dual enrollment students must complete the GPTC Dual Enrollment Orientation before they can be registered for classes. The orientation is online and covers academic expectations, communication standards, funding requirements, and student responsibilities.
Complete Orientation at gptc.edu/deoi
2
Counselor Approves Courses in GA Futures
Students work with you to choose courses that fit their graduation plan. You then approve the selected courses in GA Futures. GPTC will not register a student without counselor approval in GA Futures -- this protects the student's funding and their path to on-time graduation.
Your action required Approval does not equal registration
3
Student Submits Registration Request
Once orientation is complete and your GA Futures approval is on file, the student submits the GPTC registration request form. This is the final step before they are officially enrolled for the semester.
Submit Registration Request Form
Important: Students who withdraw from two or more courses will lose Dual Enrollment funding. Early conversations about course load and student readiness can make a real difference.
Support Services
Accessibility Services
IEPs and 504 Plans Do Not Automatically Transfer
At the college level, students must self-identify to receive accommodations. GPTC's Accessibility Services Office reviews each request and supporting documentation to determine what accommodations are reasonable for the student's dual enrollment course.
Please encourage students with IEPs or 504 Plans to connect with Accessibility Services before their first semester. Early outreach prevents delays in receiving support.
Contact Accessibility Services
Calvin Kennebrew Jr. ADA/504 Coordinator (404) 297-9522 ext. 1155 accessibility@gptc.edu
FERPA Reminder: Parents cannot contact professors about grades or coursework without a Student Information Release Authorization on file. Students must advocate for themselves directly. Even with a FERPA waiver, parents cannot make changes to a student's account, such as adding or dropping courses.
