Getting Started
Registering for Classes
The registration process for Dual Enrollment students is different from regular college students. All course registrations and schedule changes are handled through the DE Office -- not self-service. Follow the steps below to make sure your classes are set up correctly and your funding is protected.
⚠ Important: Do Not Register Yourself
Dual Enrollment students do not add or drop classes on their own. Any schedule change made without approval from your high school counselor or DE coordinator may result in loss of Dual Enrollment funding. Always follow the steps below.
Step by Step
Registration Steps
Complete each step in order. Your registration cannot be processed until orientation is complete and your counselor has approved your courses in GA Futures.
1
Create or Update Your GA Futures Account
Make sure you have a GA Futures account and have submitted your Dual Enrollment funding application for the current school year. GA Futures applications must be renewed every school year (May -- April). Need help? Use the step-by-step GA Futures guide.
2
Meet with Your High School Counselor
Discuss which courses you want to take and make sure they fit your graduation plan. Browse available courses using the GPTC Course Schedule -- check the location, format, and availability of each course before your meeting.
3
Counselor Approves Your Courses in GA Futures
Ask your high school counselor to add your selected courses to GA Futures. GPTC will not register a student without counselor approval in GA Futures -- this step protects your funding and your path to on-time graduation. Approval in GA Futures does not equal registration.
4
Complete Mandatory DE Orientation
All new Dual Enrollment students must complete the GPTC Dual Enrollment Orientation before they can be registered for classes. The orientation is online and covers academic expectations, funding requirements, and student responsibilities. You must complete this before submitting your registration request.
5
Submit Your Course Registration Request
Once orientation is complete and your counselor's GA Futures approval is on file, submit the GPTC Course Registration Request Form. This is the final step before the DE Office enrolls you in your courses. Need a walkthrough? Watch the video below.
6
Set Up Your GPTC Account Security (MFA)
Before you can access your GPTC student account, email, and Blackboard, you need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). GPTC recommends Okta Verify for the easiest setup. Visit our step-by-step MFA setup guide for both Okta Verify and Google Authenticator.
