CLARKSTON, GA – Hailing from multiple programs that include automotive technology, air conditioning technology, interdisciplinary studies, computer information systems and many more, fourteen students at Georgia Piedmont Technical College are getting a financial boost for the spring semester. The $11,300 in funds come in the form of scholarships managed through the GPTC Foundation and part of their application process, students must provide a photo and write a thank you letter to the scholarship provider.
In her letter, interdisciplinary studies student and single parent Andrea Natal wrote, “As a single parent, navigating the challenges of raising a family while pursuing academic goals have been both rewarding and demanding. Your foundation’s recognition and assistance have provided me with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to overcome obstacles.”
Air conditioning technology student Kevin Fleming, Jr. (not pictured) hopes to become a certified HVAC professional and says the financial assistance via the Johnson Controls International Scholarship for Student Success Award will “allow me the ability to concentrate on what is important to me – education – and close that first gap of independence and professional growth.” His classmate and fellow JCI scholarship recipient Kenny Porter said he “is humbled and honored to be a recipient of this scholarship,” adding that it will help him with the necessities needed to graduate.
Winner of the JTA Enterprises and Promotional Entrepreneur Scholarship, computer information student Tsehaynesh Haile hopes to become a database specialist and after earning her associate degree, “wants to start working and then enroll in a bachelor’s program to study the subject more.”
