Apprenticeships at Georgia Piedmont Technical College
Build a workforce that works—your way
Apprenticeships are one of the most effective strategies for growing a skilled and loyal workforce, while providing employees with the tools to succeed. At Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC), we serve as a trusted apprenticeship sponsor, partnering with employers across industries to create customized, affordable training programs that deliver measurable results.
Our apprenticeship programs are developed in partnership with local industry representatives. These programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on apprenticeship experiences. Key features of our programs include:
- A focus on advanced manufacturing
- Students attend classes for part of the day and work the other part
- Paid, competitive apprenticeships with local manufacturers
- Students earn two technical certificates of credit and a high school diploma upon graduating from 12th grade
- Opportunities to continue education at Georgia Piedmont Tech, earning an associate degree and an apprenticeship certificate
This structure ensures that students gain valuable skills and experience while still in high school, preparing them for both immediate employment and further education.
What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, enabling employees to apply new skills in real-world settings. Each lesson is directly tied to workplace tasks, ensuring apprentices develop practical, industry-relevant expertise that benefits both the worker and the employer.
Apprenticeships at GPTC are flexible and can be tailored for any sector, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, information technology, transportation and logistics, and hospitality.
