About Online/Distance Learning
Also called distance learning, online courses at GPTC are designed to match the quality and rigor of on-campus classes.
- Students must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Courses require the same amount of time as in-person classes.
- Students interact with instructors and classmates through electronic communication.
- Basic computer knowledge and strong organizational skills are recommended for success.
- Availability: Courses may vary by semester and enrollment; check with faculty advisers for details.
Proctoring Requirements
Students enrolled in online or hybrid courses (50%+ online) must participate in at least one proctored, graded event per course. A proctored event is a supervised exam, presentation, lab, or assignment that ensures academic integrity.
Proctoring Options:
- Attend instructor-scheduled proctored events (free of charge).
- If unable to attend, request instructor approval for one of these alternatives:
- Faculty or administrator at another technical college
- Faculty member or administrator of a regionally accredited university/college
- School superintendent, principal, or counselor
- Librarian
- Commissioned military officer (higher rank than student)
Note: Any costs associated with alternative proctoring are the student’s responsibility.
