Step One
Log In to Your Student Dashboard

Everything starts at your GPTC student dashboard. Log in there first, every time, so your verification stays current.

login.gptc.edu
First
Find your GPTC email

Look in your personal inbox for the message from GPTC with your login information. Check your spam folder if you do not see it.

Your Username
Everything before the @
jsmith12@student.gptc.edu

Type only the highlighted part as your username.

Your First Password

GptcMMDDYY

Born March 15, 2009? Your password is Gptc031509.

After Your First Login

You will be asked to change your password. Pick something you will remember, because you need it all semester.

Step Two
Set Up Two Step Verification

Two step verification protects your student account. Open the GPTC setup page on your laptop and keep your phone next to you. Every screenshot you need is on that page.

What You Are Doing
Set up Okta Verify
Download Okta Verify on your phone Scan the QR code your login screen shows Approve the push notification to finish
Keep the App
You will use it again

Do not delete Okta Verify after setup. You will use it every time you log in from a new device.

If Okta Will Not Work
Use Google Authenticator

Install Google Authenticator from your app store instead, and choose that option when GPTC asks how you want to verify.

Step Three
Find Blackboard From Your Dashboard

Blackboard is not on the front of your dashboard. It takes four clicks to get there. Follow this path exactly.

1
Open Banner Self-Service

From your student dashboard, find the Banner Self-Service Experience tile and click it. Make sure you land on the Home page once you are inside.

2
Open your class from the Classes widget

Look at the bottom left for the Classes widget. Your courses sit under the term name. Click the course name to open the class page.

The arrows point to the term dropdown, the refresh icon, and the course name you click.

Looks empty? Click the refresh icon next to the term name and give it a second, then check that the term dropdown shows the current term.

3
Click the blue Open LMS link

Scroll down to Assignments. It usually says No Assignments Found, which is normal. Click the small blue Open LMS link underneath. This is the door into Blackboard.

Open LMS sits just below the No Assignments Found message.

See a graphic with Monty the Lion? Click it. If you are already logged in from earlier, you may skip straight to the Blackboard home page instead.

4
Click Courses on the left side

You made it into Blackboard. Your name shows at the top of the black menu. Click Courses, the third item down, under Institution Page and Activity.

Blackboard Help for Students and GPTC/BB Support both live on this page under Student Tools.

Courses page blank? Open the Terms dropdown and change Current Courses to All Terms.

Bookmark Tip

Bookmark Blackboard once you are in, but always start from login.gptc.edu so your verification stays current.

Troubleshooting
Something Not Working?

These are the four things that go wrong most often. Select the one that matches what you are seeing.

My Classes tile is empty or shows the wrong term

Check that the term says the current term, for example Fall 2026. If it does not, click the down arrow next to the term and choose the current term from the list.

If that does not work, click the refresh icon on the Classes tile itself, then open the term dropdown and select the current term again. Do not refresh your browser, use the refresh icon inside the tile.

If you have refreshed the tile and your classes still do not appear, do not submit a Blackboard HelpDesk ticket. Contact Student Support if the tile itself will not load, or contact the Dual Enrollment office if the tile loads but your courses are missing. Missing courses usually mean you are not registered yet.

I clicked Open LMS and saw a login graphic

You may land on a tile with Monty the Lion that says Blackboard Login. Click it.

If you have already logged in that day, or are still logged in from earlier, you may not see the graphic at all. It may take you straight to the Blackboard home page. Both are normal.

My Courses page in Blackboard is blank

If it says You aren't enrolled in any courses for this time period, the filter is hiding your class, not deleting it.

Open the Terms dropdown at the top of the page and change Current Courses to All Terms. Your course should appear.

If it still does not appear after switching to All Terms, contact the Dual Enrollment office.

I am taking a TCSG Connect course

You must click into each TCSG Connect course individually to view it at the college where it is taught. Opening one course does not open the others.

A class is missing from my dashboard entirely

If the Classes tile is loading correctly and showing the right term but a course is simply not there, you are most likely not registered for it.

Contact the Dual Enrollment office right away at dualenrollment@gptc.edu so we can check your registration before the add and drop period closes.

Important: Your Counselor Does Not Register You

You must submit a course request form yourself for every course you want to take. Your high school counselor approves your courses in GAFutures, but approval is not the same as registration. If you never submitted a request form, you are not enrolled.

Fall Add and Drop Period

August 17 through August 21. If a class is missing, or you need a schedule change, contact the Dual Enrollment office within this window. Changes are much harder to make once it closes.

Once You Are In Blackboard
Three Tasks in Every Course

Complete these in every GPTC course you take, every term. They are due during the first week of the term, so finish them as soon as you can get into Blackboard.

1
The No Show assignment

This one keeps you enrolled. Completing it confirms your attendance for the term. If you skip it, your instructor has to remove you from the course and you lose the credit for the term. It has its own module in every GPTC course and must be done in the first week.

Do not see a No Show assignment in your course? Contact your instructor right away. Do not assume it is not required.

2
Work Ethics and Career Alignment

A short assessment on professional values, work habits, and how your strengths line up with your career interests. Required by the state of Georgia for every technical college course. Save your completion badge and your answers somewhere you will find them, like your GPTC Google Drive. In your next course you submit the saved badge instead of redoing the work.

3
The course syllabus quiz, if available

Confirms you read the syllabus. Open the syllabus and the course schedule first, then keep the syllabus open while you take the quiz. Every answer is in the document, so you are not being asked to memorize anything.

Where to Find Them

No Show and Work Ethics each have their own module on the course content page. The syllabus and the syllabus quiz are inside the Start Here First module.

Still Stuck?
Where to Get Help

Three different teams handle three different problems. Use the right one so your issue gets solved faster. You will not be penalized for a technical problem you reported.

Login, Password, Banner
