The Testing Accommodation Center (TAC)

Testing Accommodations

The Testing Accommodation Center (TAC) provides a designated testing environment for students with disabilities who have approved testing accommodations through Disability Services and when arranged in coordination with their instructors.

While the TAC is an important support resource, it is not the only option for implementing testing accommodations. Instructors may choose to provide approved accommodations within the classroom or through alternative arrangements, provided the student’s accommodation needs are met.

The TAC works collaboratively with students and instructors, to ensure that exams are administered in an equitable, supportive, and respectful manner. The goal is to provide students with a testing experience that upholds academic integrity while removing disability-related barriers.

Preparing for Your Exam Day

  • If your instructor has scheduled your exam to be taken in the Testing Accommodation Center (TAC), we want you to arrive feeling prepared and at ease. Please review the following information to help ensure a smooth testing experience.
  • Before your exam, review your confirmation email carefully. This message includes important details such as your assigned TAC location and your scheduled start time.
  • Students should plan to arrive approximately 5–10 minutes early to allow time for check-in and to store any personal items that are not permitted in the testing area.
  • Please bring a valid photo ID for check-in. This may include your student ID or a government-issued photo identification.
  • You may bring a personal water bottle, provided it has a secure, closed lid. To help maintain a distraction-reduced environment, students are encouraged to avoid wearing strong fragrances on exam day.
  • Testing rooms are monitored by cameras for observation purposes only; recordings are not made.
  • Any scratch paper or notes used during the exam will be collected at the conclusion of testing. Copies may be provided if permitted by the instructor.

Unless specifically approved as part of an accommodation, the following items are not allowed in the testing space:

  • Personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, wireless earbuds, or headphones
  • (If an unauthorized device is present, the instructor may be notified.)
