Mechatronics Immersive Learning Experience (M.I.L.E.)

The Mechatronics Immersive Learning Experience (M.I.L.E.) grant at Georgia Piedmont Technical College is designed to help U.S. military veterans pivot into high-demand, high-tech careers. This innovative program provides participants with paid, hands-on training in the growing field of mechatronics—a discipline that combines mechanics, electronics, and computer science to power modern manufacturing and automation.

Through the M.I.L.E. program, six cohorts of 10 veterans will complete a 16-week immersive training experience managed through GPTC’s Economic Development Division. Participants will earn $24 per hour while they learn, easing the transition from military service to civilian careers. The program delivers both technical instruction and career-readiness support, ensuring graduates are prepared to step directly into well-paying jobs in advanced manufacturing and related industries.

Referred to as a “pivot grant,” M.I.L.E. gives veterans the tools to successfully transition into a new career path, leveraging their discipline, problem-solving, and technical aptitude.
