Whether you are a teenager completing Joshua's Law requirements or an adult learning to drive, Georgia Piedmont Technical College offers comprehensive driver's education taught by licensed instructors.
Our program combines classroom instruction with private behind-the-wheel training to help students become safe and confident drivers.
Tuition
The cost of the Driver's Education course is $400.
The course fee includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, six hours of private behind-the-wheel instruction, textbooks and instructional materials.
Georgia Driver's Education Grant Scholarship
The Georgia Driver's Education Commission offers grant scholarships to eligible Georgia residents ages 15 through 17 who want to complete an approved driver's education program.
The scholarship may cover the required 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel training needed to satisfy Joshua's Law.
Scholarship Priority
- Children or dependents of public safety professionals or members of the United States military who were killed in the line of duty
- Applicants who demonstrate financial need based on household income
- Other eligible applicants who do not meet the first or second priority criteria
Scholarship funding is distributed among Georgia's United States congressional districts.

Auto Insurance Discount
Students who successfully complete the program receive a Georgia Department of Driver Services Completion Certificate.
Eligible families may qualify for a 10% reduction in auto insurance premiums for up to three years. Eligibility may depend on the parent or guardian maintaining a clean driving record for the previous three years. Families should contact their insurance provider to confirm eligibility and available discounts.
