Transition to Nursing Practice RNSG 2812

In this course, students will demonstrate an understanding of the nursing field and the responsibilities associated with the role of professional nursing. Students are expected to use the knowledge they have gained throughout the nursing program while caring for patients in diverse healthcare settings. The course will incorporate current trends, perspectives, and various health issues to provide a well-rounded learning experience. The focus will be on helping students transition from being learners to becoming nurses through simulation and hospital experiences. Students are expected to take on leadership roles during clinical practicum preceptor experiences. These practicum experiences will allow students to deliver and oversee patient care while acting as both team members and leaders. Students will manage patient cases involving, but not limited to, acute illnesses, emergency burns, organ failure, organ transplants, end-of-life care, disaster response situations, and the associated drug classifications based on body systems. Students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking skills, understand delegation principles, and use effective communication and collaboration techniques when managing patient assignments in the clinical component.
