Mental Health RNSG 2806

This course prepares students to use nursing judgment to care for patients experiencing mental health disorders. The course emphasizes health promotion, coping mechanisms, and therapeutic communication in the care of mental health patients. The course includes, but does not exhaustively cover, the following subjects: addiction, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and dementia. The course integrates behavioral and cognitive therapies, psychopharmacology, and other therapy modalities throughout. Students will provide safe and quality care to patients with mental health changes in various acute and community settings while also incorporating client-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and leadership skills.
