Pharmacology RNSG 2802

This class provides an overview of pharmacology, with a focus on the responsibilities of nurses in preparing, managing, and administering medications. Fundamental principles of how drugs work in the body (pharmacodynamics) and how the body processes drugs (pharmacokinetics). Some of the topics covered include interactions between medications, possible negative reactions, and various types of drugs. The course consists of exercises that enhance critical thinking skills to help students accurately calculate medication doses and administer them safely to patients throughout their lifespans. It also introduces concepts like evidence-based practice, quality assurance and safety in nursing, nursing decision-making skills, information technology usage in healthcare, health education and promotion, and professional development. Various drug categories impacting the system, including the endocrine, cardiovascular, renal, and respiratory, will be discussed during the course.
