GPTC Assistant VP Named to Executive Board of Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators

DeKalb County - July 28, 2016

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is pleased to announce Lakisha Sanders, assistant vice president of financial aid, has been appointed to the executive board of the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA).

“It is an honor to represent Georgia Piedmont in this prestigious position,” Sanders said.  “My appointment is history-making, because I am the first GASFAA board member to represent our college,” she continued.

Sanders was chosen for this post based on her presentations at the 2015 Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA) conference and the 2016 Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) conference.  “I possess knowledge of Department of Education systems, federal regulations, Banner, and other software systems.  I believe that background will be helpful as I conduct classes for current GASFAA member colleges located throughout the state,” she concluded.

Sanders’ responsibilities will include making presentations at the Fall 2016 GASFAA workshop and the GASFAA 2017 conference.  Additionally, she will be sending software updates and automation tips to the GASFAA listserv.

Representatives from financial aid offices, business offices, registrar’s offices and admissions staff will be among the professionals attending Sanders’ classes.  She brings over 16 years of experience to the post, and is planning to teach courses on how to use Banner Financial Aid, PowerFaids, and business automation systems.

Her term began June 1, 2016 and will expire in July of 2017.
