Formerly Georgia Work Ready

The National Career Readiness System and ACT's WorkKeys®, formerly Georgia Work Ready, benefits everyone by offering a statewide system that enables all concerned to coordinate their efforts to improve the quality of the Georgia workforce. The WorkKeys® assessment provides a comprehensive measure of foundation skills that contribute to workplace success.

By establishing a common language for communication between employers, educators, and job seekers, the National Career Readiness system permits a direct comparison of the skills needed for a job with the skills a potential employee currently possesses. This ensures informed hiring decisions and well-targeted instruction by trainers and educators.

The National Career Readiness Certificate enables individuals to demonstrate to employers a fitness for employment as well as readiness for increased salaries and promotions. Current workers, in addition to unemployed workers can get a National Career Readiness Certificate after passing the WorkKeys® assessments. Training is provided for individuals working toward better jobs. Georgia Piedmont Technical College staff will help you find the right training to increase skill in reading, math, and locating information. Coaching is available to job seekers wanting to further develop good work habits.

Getting a certificate is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Contact Georgia Piedmont Tech's Newton Campus Building D & Conference Center at 404-297-9522 Ext. 5303 or Jayme Kyzer; 770-784-3111; workkeys@gptc.edu.

  2. Match individual certificate levels to more than 400 sample occupations to help determine personal employment goals.

  3. Send a certificate in advance or carry it with you when you apply for a job.

Certificate Levels
ACT's WorkKeys® assessment system has generated a database with occupational profiles for thousands of jobs across the country. A majority of the jobs require certain skill levels in Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. Individuals with higher skill levels qualify for more jobs. The WorkKeys® program uses test results from these assessments to award certificates in four categories:

Bronze Level
Bronze Level signifies an individual has scored at least a level 3 in each of the three core areas (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information) and has the necessary skills for 35 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys® database.

Silver Level
Silver Level signifies an individual has scored at least a level 4 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 65 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys® database.

Gold Level
Gold Level signifies an individual has scored at least a level 5 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 90 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys® database.

Platinum Level
Platinum Level signifies an individual has scored at least a level 6 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 99 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys® database.

Certificate WorkKeys® Scores
Gold 5s and above
Silver 4s and above
Bronze 3s and above
Platinum 6s and above

Job seekers can show employers that they are ready for employment. Employees can demonstrate their readiness for a salary increase or promotion. Educators may use WorkKeys® to tailor development plans, certify workforce readiness, and guarantee diplomas. Employers use the system to determine hiring qualifications and training needs. Economic and workforce developers match employers with communities to ensure the best possible workforce. Find out more about the system at http://workforce.georgia.gov/.
