Achieving the Dream

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer.
Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience,
and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."
– Harriet Tubman

Achieving the Dream (ATD) is a non-Governmental reform movement focused on student success within two-year colleges.  ATD believes that improved student success can be accomplished through the following essential capacities:

  • Leadership and Vision
  • Data and Technology
  • Equity
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Engagement and Communication
  • Strategy and Planning
  • Policies and Practices

Being an ATD member college, Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) is committed to student success which we believe will be accomplished through the ATD capacities.  GPTC has incorporated these concepts into its strategic plan.  Focused on achieving excellence, the college’s strategic plan has four main points:

  • Educational Excellence
  • Communication Excellence
  • Management Excellence
  • Engagement Excellence

Through committed leadership and broad engagement, GPTC will realize each of its strategic goals. Having selected one of our ATD strategies to be “Build a Culture of Evidence, GPTC is committed to using evidence to bring about systemic institutional improvement in support of each of these four strategic goals. We are prepared to build our capacities in each of these key areas as we all work together to support student success.
